Privacy Policy for Simple Detox

Last updated: December 17, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how Simple Detox ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

1. Information Collection and Use

The primary purpose of Simple Detox is to help you reduce screen time and block distracting applications. To provide this functionality, the App processes certain data directly on your device. We do not transmit your personal data, app usage history, or passwords to any external servers. All processing regarding app blocking logic happens locally on your device.

2. Sensitive Permissions and APIs

To function correctly, Simple Detox requires specific Android permissions. Here is how and why we use them:

Accessibility Service API
Why we use it: This is the core engine of the App. We use the Accessibility Service exclusively to detect which application is currently running on your screen in real-time. If the detected app is on your "Blocklist," the Accessibility Service allows us to instantly cover the screen or close the app to prevent usage.

Privacy: We DO NOT use this service to read your screen content, messages, passwords, or financial information. No data collected via this API is transmitted to third parties or stored on external servers.

Display Over Other Apps (Overlay):
Why we use it: To display the "Focus Screen" (blocking overlay) on top of restricted apps when a detox session is active.

Usage Access:
Why we use it: To generate local statistics about your screen time and app usage, allowing you to track your progress.

3. Third-Party Services

While the App logic is local, we use third-party services for monetization (ads and subscriptions) and app stability. These services may collect information used to identify you (e.g., Device ID, Advertising ID).

Link to privacy policies of third-party service providers used by the App:

Google AdMob: We use AdMob to display advertisements in the free version of the App. AdMob may use device identifiers to personalize ads.

Google Play Services: We use Google Play Services for in-app purchases (subscriptions and penalty payments). We do not process or store your credit card information; all financial transactions are handled securely by Google.

4. Data Retention

Local Data: Your blocklists, session history, and statistics are stored locally on your device. You can delete this data at any time by clearing the App's storage or uninstalling the App.

Ad Data: Data collected by AdMob is managed according to Google's retention policies.

5. GDPR and CCPA (User Rights)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or California:

Ads: You have the right to consent or withdraw consent for personalized advertising. The App utilizes Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage these consents.

Access/Deletion: Since we do not store your personal data on our servers, you can "delete" your data simply by uninstalling the App. For data held by third parties (Google), please refer to their respective privacy policies linked above.

6. Children's Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
